How to edit a credit memo?

Editing a credit memo in InvoiceOwl is simple:

  1. Click Credit Memos in the left sidebar.
  2. Click on the credit memo you want to edit to open the detail page.
  3. Click the Edit button in the top right corner. This opens the full-screen edit form.
  4. Make your changes. You can update:
    • The client (click Change next to the client name)
    • The credit memo date
    • Line items (add, remove, or change items, quantities, and rates)
    • Tax settings in the right side panel (per line item or entire document)
    • Markup (click on the markup value in the totals section)
    • Attachments, Note for Client, and Internal Notes in the right side panel
  5. Your changes are saved automatically. You will see a Saved indicator in the right side panel.
  6. Click Done to go back to the detail view, or click Send to email the updated credit memo to your client.

If you close the editor without saving, a dialog asks if you want to Save Draft (or Save Changes) or Discard your changes.

Note: If a credit memo has been fully allocated (all credit applied to invoices), it cannot be edited. You will see a message explaining this if you try.

On the Mobile App

  1. Tap the More tab, then tap Credit Memos, then tap the credit memo you want to edit.
  2. Tap the Edit button on the detail screen. This is only available for draft credit memos.
  3. Make your changes. You can update:
    • The client (tap Change next to the client name)
    • The credit memo date
    • Line items (add, remove, or change items, quantities, and rates)
    • Markup (tap the markup row in the totals section)
    • Attachments, Note for Client, and Internal Notes (scroll down and tap More Options)
  4. Your changes save automatically. Tap Save Draft to return to the detail view, or tap Send Credit Memo to email it.

You can also start editing from the list by long-pressing a credit memo and tapping Edit.
