What are different ways to send an invoice?

Last updated: March 21, 2026

InvoiceOwl offers several ways to deliver an invoice to your client:

Email (primary method):

  1. Open the invoice and click Send in the right sidebar.
  2. The send dialog opens with the client's email pre-filled. You can add CC and BCC recipients.
  3. Customize the subject line and message if needed.
  4. Click Send to deliver the invoice by email. Your client receives an email with a link to view and pay the invoice online.

Share Link:

  1. Once an invoice has been sent (status is Awaiting Payment or Paid), click Copy Link in the top area of the invoice detail page.
  2. The invoice URL is copied to your clipboard. You can paste and share this link via text message, messaging apps, or any other method.

Mark as Sent:

If you delivered the invoice another way (printed it, handed it over in person, etc.), you can mark it as sent without emailing:

  1. Open the invoice and click More Actions in the right sidebar.
  2. Select Mark as Sent. The invoice status changes to Awaiting Payment.

Print / Download:

  1. Click Print / Download in the top area of the invoice detail page.
  2. The invoice PDF opens in a new tab where you can print it or save it to your computer.
