How to edit an invoice?

You can edit an invoice in InvoiceOwl by following these steps:

  1. Click Invoices in the left sidebar.
  2. Click on the invoice you want to edit to open the invoice detail page.
  3. Click the Edit button in the top right area of the detail page.
  4. The invoice editor opens where you can change:
    • Client -- click Change next to the client name to switch clients.
    • Invoice Date -- click the date field to pick a new date from the calendar.
    • Payment Terms -- use the dropdown to select a different payment term (Same Day, 7 Day, 14 Day, 21 Day, Net 30, Net 60, Net 90, or Custom).
    • Line Items -- edit item names, descriptions, types, quantities, and rates directly in the table. Click Add item to add more rows, or click the X to remove an item.
    • Deposit, Markup, and Discount in the totals section.
    • Notes, Attachments, Payment Methods, Shipping, and Contract settings in the right sidebar.
  5. Changes auto-save for draft invoices. For sent invoices, click Done when finished.

Note: Paid invoices and invoices marked as bad debt cannot be edited.

On the Mobile App

  1. Tap the Invoices tab and tap the invoice you want to edit.
  2. Tap the Edit icon (pencil) in the top right corner of the detail screen.
  3. The invoice editor opens where you can change:
    • Client -- tap the client name to switch to a different client.
    • Invoice Date, Payment Terms, and Due Date -- tap any of these at the top to change them.
    • Line Items -- tap an item to edit it, or tap Add Item to add more.
    • Scroll down and tap More Options to edit the deposit, markup, discount, notes, shipping, or contract settings.
  4. Tap Save Draft when done, or Send Invoice to send the updated invoice.

Note: Paid invoices and invoices marked as bad debt cannot be edited.
