How to add a markup to my invoice?

Last updated: March 21, 2026

Markup lets you add a percentage or dollar amount on top of your item costs. Your client sees the final prices but not the markup breakdown. Here is how to add it:

  1. Click Invoices in the left sidebar and open an invoice (or create a new one).
  2. Click Edit to open the invoice editor.
  3. In the totals section below the line items, find the Markup row.
  4. Click on the markup value (it shows "None" if no markup is set). This opens the Markup dialog.
  5. In the Markup dialog, configure:
    • Applied to -- choose which items the markup applies to: All Items, Labor only, Parts only, or Other only.
    • Type -- choose between a percentage (%) or a fixed dollar amount ($).
    • Value -- enter the markup percentage or dollar amount.
  6. Click Apply to save the markup settings.

The markup is distributed across the applicable line items so your client sees the marked-up prices on each item rather than a separate markup line. This keeps your profit margin private.

On the Mobile App

  1. Open an invoice or create a new one from the Invoices tab.
  2. Scroll down and tap More Options.
  3. Tap Markup to open the markup settings.
  4. Choose which items the markup applies to: All Items, Labor Only, Parts Only, or Other Only.
  5. Choose the type -- percentage (%) or fixed dollar amount ($) -- and enter the value.
  6. Tap Done to apply.

The markup is spread across the applicable line items so your client sees the final prices without a separate markup line.
