To e-sign an invoice in InvoiceOwl, you first need to have a contract template with signature requirements enabled (see "How can I enable an e-sign feature?" for setup instructions).
Signing your invoice as the business owner:
- Click Invoices in the left sidebar and open the invoice you want to sign.
- If your signature is required, you will see the signature status as Pending in the Contract Signatures section of the right sidebar.
- Click Send to send the invoice. If you have not signed yet, a signature dialog will open automatically before the send dialog.
- In the signature dialog, enter your name and draw your signature.
- Click Sign to apply your signature.
- After signing, the send dialog opens so you can email the invoice to your client.
You can also sign before sending by clicking Mark as Sent under More Actions, which will prompt for your signature if required.
Viewing signature status:
On the invoice detail page, the right sidebar shows the Contract Signatures section with the status of both the business signature and client signature (Signed or Pending). Click View Contract to see the full contract with signatures.
On the Mobile App
- Tap the Invoices tab and tap the invoice you want to sign.
- If your signature is required, you will see the Contract Signatures section showing your signature as Pending.
- Tap Send Invoice at the bottom. If you have not signed yet, a signature screen opens automatically.
- Enter your name and draw your signature with your finger.
- Tap Sign to apply your signature, then proceed to send the invoice.
You can also sign by tapping More at the bottom, then Mark as Sent -- this will prompt for your signature if required.
Viewing signature status:
On the invoice detail screen, scroll down to the Contract Signatures section to see the status of both signatures (Signed or Pending). Tap View Contract to see the full contract.
