How can I enable an e-sign feature?

Last updated: March 21, 2026

E-signatures in InvoiceOwl are configured per invoice using contract templates. Here is how to enable them:

Setting up a contract template:

  1. Click Settings in the left sidebar.
  2. Go to the Contract Templates section.
  3. Create a new contract template or edit an existing one.
  4. In the template settings, enable signature requirements:
    • Business Signature Required -- you must sign the document before sending.
    • Client Signature Required -- your client must sign the document when they receive it.
  5. Save the template.

Applying signatures to an invoice:

  1. Open an invoice and click Edit.
  2. In the right sidebar, find the Contract section.
  3. Select a contract template from the dropdown.
  4. You can override the default signature requirements for this specific invoice using the toggles:
    • My Signature -- toggle on if you need to sign this invoice.
    • Client Signature -- toggle on if your client needs to sign.
  5. Click Done to save the invoice.

When you click Send, if your signature is required, you will be prompted to sign before the send dialog opens.
