Markup lets you add profit on top of your costs without showing the breakdown to your client. The markup amount gets spread across the selected line items, so the client only sees the final price -- not how much you marked up.
Here is how to add markup to a quote:
- Click Quotes in the left sidebar and open or create a quote.
- Below the line items table, find the price summary section.
- Click the Markup row (it shows "None" by default).
- A markup dialog will appear. Choose what to apply the markup to:
- All items -- markup applies to every line item.
- Labor only -- markup applies only to items with type "Labor."
- Parts only -- markup applies only to items with type "Parts."
- Other only -- markup applies only to items with type "Other."
- Enter the markup amount as a dollar amount or a percentage.
- Click Apply to save.
The markup will be distributed into the line item rates, so your client sees the marked-up price on each item. The total at the bottom reflects the markup, but there is no separate "Markup" line visible to the client.
To remove the markup, open the markup dialog and set it back to None.
On the Mobile App
- Tap the Quotes tab, then create a new quote or open an existing one and tap the Edit icon.
- Scroll down past the line items and tap Markup.
- Choose what to apply the markup to: All Items, Labor Only, Parts Only, or Other Only.
- Enter the markup amount as a dollar amount or percentage, then tap Done.
The markup gets distributed into each line item's rate, so your client sees the final price without a separate markup line.
To remove the markup, go back into the markup settings and select None.
